One of those things ...

I was in the checkout line at the grocery store today, juggling a fussy Fynn in the kangaroo sling over my shoulder along with an overly full cart of groceries. With only one hand available due to the sling, I slowly started taking things out of the basket and putting them on the conveyor belt. The lady who was bagging in that line came up and started to help me unload the cart. My immediate response was "Oh, thank you! It's really slow with only one hand."

Three seconds later I looked down to notice that her left arm was 6 inches shorter than the right, and ended in 5 miniscule and unusable fingers. Ouch. A quick glance at her face showed no flicker, and I'm sure she knew what I meant given that she'd seen me working one-handed before she came up. Still ... I felt rather small. What are the odds?!
