The rest of the birthday story ...

Douglas and I scrambled to Toys'R'Us in the morning to get Fynn's presents, and were delighted to find the entire store on sale! Fynn got a ride-on schoolbus, crayons for the bath, and his first toothbrush. He was delighted with the schoolbus, but the gift from my parents took the cake, as I posted yesterday, and below. With Vigor And Delight would be the description I think.
In the afternoon we had a BBQ in the back yard, the first of the year. It was small but perfect, and music provided by the party/street fair going on in front of the house, complete with a stage literally RIGHT in front of our house. The band (AfroPunk) wasn't my favorite, but the dance party was full of fun, and Michael/Fynn joined in for a wee bit. I probably would have if it weren't for the party, it was hard not to get moving to the music.

The boys split the sandbox into two, deciding there just wasn't enough room for all ...

And then the cake ... cupcakes actually. With little fanfare OR forethought, I put the cupcake with lit candle in front of him. Before I could stop him, he'd pinched the candle out ... Quickly enough that he didn't even seem to feel it!
He enjoyed it, as did the other boys ...

A great birthday, and nicely low-key. I still can't believe he's one, and am thankful every day he's healthy and happy.
